VSF Donates Solar Power Boreholes In 17 States

The Victims Support Fund VSF, Task force on COVID-19 has donated Solar powered boreholes and other hygiene facilities worth over two hundred and fifty million naira to three secondary schools in 17 states and FCT as part of preventive measures to combat the spread of the second wave of Corona-virus in the country.

The Chairperson of the task force, Mrs Toyosi Kerele-Ogunsiji made this known while handing over the facilities to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory Mallam Musa Bello in Abuja.

Mrs Ogunsiji explained that the emergency intervention initiative was part of the social responsibility of the organization through the commitment of the VSF board Chairman, Rtd Lt. General Thiophilus Danjuma.

According to her, the aim was to provide succor to vulnerable Nigerians as well as to compliment governent efforts to curb the menace of COVID-19 in 18 states of the federation.

Receiving the items, the Minister of the Federal capital territory, Mallam Musa Bello Represented by the Acting Secretary Education Secetariat FCT, Mallam Abulrazak Onivoho who commended the organization for the gesture, urged nigerians to see quality education in the country as collective responsibility.

The principal, Governent Day Secondary School Bwari, Dr. Mrs Favour Edem-Nse expressed appreciation to the victims support fund for their support in ensuring that staff and students of the school were protected from contracting the corona virus.

Dr. Edem Nse also urged other cooperate bodies and well-meaning individuals to emulate the good gesture of the VSF.

The items donated by the VSF Taskforce on COVID-19 to three schools in FCT include; a solar-powered borehole, 4 Hand Wash Stations, 2000 pices of Facemasks, 5 pieces of 4 Ltr Hand Sanitizers,120 Bottles of 500ml Liquid Hand wash, among others.
