Nigeria: UNDP And EU To Train 300 Borno Youth In Various Skill Acquisitions

United Nation Development Program UNDP in collaboration with European Union are to train 300 Borno youths and women in various skills acquisitions.

According to UN agency, the skills were to enable trainers acquires knowledge and competence to achieve self-dependency development in boko haram affected communities in the northeast Nigeria.

Addressing the trainers on Monday at the matriculation ceremony of Ramat Polytechnics, Maiduguri, The Head UNDP sub-office, Mizuho Yokoi disclosed that the training programme is help and motivate the youths to start their lives.
She said that 1,500 youth were trained in the northeast, after rehabilitating three training centres in Borno State.

The EU representing Ringpon Gwamzhi also said that the training is to fight poverty in the post Boko Haram insurgency period.

According to him, the vocational skills include hairdressing, barbing, bakery, tailoring design, GSM and computers, knitting design, carpenters and furniture making and aluminium fabrication welding among others.
