
A report by the United Nations has alleged that the Nigerian government paid a large sum of money as ransom to boko haram terrorist to secure the release of the over one hundred school girls kidnapped in Dapchi Yobe State.
The report of the world body contradicts the position of the Nigerian government as stated by Minister of Information Lai Muhammad that no money was paid as ransom to secure the release of the girls.
All the girls kidnapped in Government Girls Technical School Dapchi Yobe state were released except Leah Sharibu who refused to renounce her Christian faith.
However the Nigerian Government still insists that no money was paid as ransom although the UN report titled 22nd report of the analytical support and sanctions monitoring team pursuant to resolution 2368 concerning Islamic state in Iraq, Al-qaeda and associated individuals said Nigeria paid ransom to boko haram.
