The university of Maiduguri teaching hospital celebrated world kidney day 2021 themed LIVING WELL WITH KIDNEY DISEASE.
The celebration kicked with a sensitisation at Bama road led by the coordinator kidney centre Professor Ibrahim Ummate.
He spoke about the awareness of kidney disease and advised all to prevent them self by all means and drink plenty of water.
He also said proper check up is very important because it prevents the situation before it gets to dialysis stage.
The chief medical director of Maiduguri teaching hospital who was represented by Chairman Medical service Maiduguri Teaching Hospital Professor Sanusi Ibrahim commended world health organisation for setting aside every second Thursday of march as a day to celebrate world kidney day.
Prof Ibrahim said kidney disease is a deadly condition and urged people to avoid hazardous substances that is dangerous to the kidney and should also consume water constantly everyday.
He told news men that Maiduguri teaching hospital has the best kidney centre in Nigeria and also the cost of dialysis is cheap compared to other hospitals in Nigeria.
