Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has begun the distribution of employment letters to People Living With Disabilities (PLWD), engaged in teaching jobs in the State.
The 150 newly recruited teachers were presented their employment letters on Monday at a brief ceremony held in the commission’s office in Agodi-Secretariat, Ibadan.
At the event, Pastor Akinade Alamu, Chairman of the Commission said that the recruitment was done with the fear of God.
Alamu said 50 PLWDs, in addition to the 150 newly recruited teachers, would be engaged in non-teaching service jobs under the ongoing recruitment exercise.
Also, the Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Administration and Service, Rev Idowu Ogedengbe, said the government was sympathetic.
According to him, the State government had acquired teaching aids, through the ministry of education, to assist PLWDs to be able perform well.
In his remarks, the Executive Assistant to Governor Makinde on Disability Matters, Mr Ayodele Adekanmbi, said the new recruits would be posted to schools that they could serve in until their work environment was most conducive for them.
