The Republic of Benin has entered into an agreement with Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) on boosting rice production in the country.
This was released in a Statement by Chief Press Secretary Government House Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari at a dinner party organized by Kebbi State Governor Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in honour of delegation from the President of Benin Republic Mr. Patrice Talon who is in Birnin Kebbi for the 5th commemoration of anniversary of the anchor borrowers programme and launching of rice festival as well as the 2021 dry season rice cultivation.
The minister of foreign affairs Benin Republic Mr. and leader of the delegation announced this at Dinner Party said his country would imbibe strategies adopted by Nigeria on improving rice production, which pave the way to enter into an agreement with the RIFAN.
The minister commended Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for leading the agricultural revolution in Kebbi state that led to massive food production with emphasis on rice.
Mr. Aurelien Agbenonci Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs and the leader of the delegation commended the governor and people of Kebbi state for the hospitality, reception and friendliness show to the delegation from the President of Benin Republic.
Welcoming the guest from the Republic of Benin, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu explained that, the success of the massive rice production, through Anchor Borrowers Programme was facilitated by the support of President Muhammadu Buhari who initiated the programme through the Central Bank of Nigeria.
He thanked President of Benin Republic for honouring Nigerian invitation by sending a delegation to attend the 5th anniversary of the Anchor Borrower Programme.
He specifically thanked Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for leading the agricultural revolution in the country with emphasis on rice cultivation which has project Kebbi state as the home of rice in Nigeria.
Among those who attended the dinner party were Hon. Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alh. Abubakar Chika Lada, Commissioner for Health, Alh. Ja’afar, Muhammad Zuru, Permanent Secretary Government House, Alh. Aliyu Mustapha Gwandu and a businessman and politician Alh. Danladi Jandutsi.
