The UK and the world is in mourning, as Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96

The news was announced by Buckingham Palace at 18:30 BST by publishing a statement, following another statement earlier in the day about her deteriorating health.

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon, as the message started.

It is said that “The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

The Royal Family rarely comment on the Queen’s health, even in recent times when she has had several health scares, so this statement was taken very seriously and Queen Elizabeth II’s children travelled north to visit her at Balmoral, taking a flight to Aberdeen Airport.
