President Buhari has expressed sadness over the recent gruesome attack on innocent travelers in Sokoto State.

Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Femi Adesina , in a statement in Abuja, quoted Buhari to have said: “It shows that the evil this administration is confronting is one that requires the support and involvement of all Nigerians.

“I extend deep condolences to the families of the victims as I assure that the security agencies will continue to give their all to bring to an end the operations of these despicable people.”

The Sokoto State Government has also commiserated with victims of terrorists attack in Gidan Bawa Town, where armed bandits were said to have burnt a vehicle conveying passengers from Sabon Birni enroute other region of the country.

The state government, however, debunked reports by several media platforms that over 40 persons lost their lives in the razed vehicle.

A statement issued by Muhammad Bello, the spokesperson to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, said only 23 persons lost their lives during the attack and 6 others sustained minor injuries and are receiving treatment at a hospital, while 3 persons have been discharged.
