President Muhammadu Buhari has described the late Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmed Lemu as an outstanding scholar, jurist, teacher and author who would be solely missed.
His daughter, Maryam Lemu in a Facebook post, said the sheikh died in the early hours of Thursday morning in Minna, Niger state.
Lemu was the chairman of a committee constituted by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 to review the violence that occurred in the countrys past elections.
He is one of the two Nigerians who have won the King Faisal International Award.
President Buhari said that Late Lemu is one of the moderating voices of Islam who used wisdom in spreading knowledge, thereby portraying the religion in the brightest light.
The president prayed that Allah reward Lemu for his contributions to Islam and the promotion of inter-faith dialogue and understanding.
