President Muhammadu Buhari has commended Chad for its role in curbing insurgence in the region, particularly the Boko Haram challenge.
The President made the commendation at the State House, Abuja, while hosting the President of Chad, Marshal Idris Deby, who paid him a one-day official visit.

President Buhari stressed that all countries experiencing insurgence must strengthen and sustain their collaboration in the fight against terrorists.
He also made reference to the shrinking and the need for sustained collaboration to recharge Lake Chad from the Congo Basin.
President Buhari noted that about 30 million people had been adversely affected by the recession of the Lake Chad, which is now just about ten per cent of its original size.
President Buhari explained that with inter-basin water transfer, farming, fishing, and animal husbandry would resume.
He wished President Derby well in the general elections coming up in his country in April.
The Chadian leader thanked President Buhari for receiving him, acknowledging that are neighbours facing similar challenges.
He told President Buhari that he came to explore other bilateral issues, in addition to security.
On the recharge of Lake Chad, he counseled President Buhari to consider convening an international summit to move the idea forward.
