Police in Kano state have impounded over 84 tricycles for violating the new order of one passenger at a time due to the recent discovery of a positive case of COVID-19 in Kano state.
It could be recalled that Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje had on Saturday outlawed tricycle operators from carrying more than a passenger at a time.
The State Traffic Officer, Kano Police Command, SP Magaji Musa Majia confirmed to Solacebase on Monday that about 84 tricycles have been impounded.
SP Magaji Musa Majia said the leadership of various tricycle operators have assured him in a meeting with them of their readiness to comply with the directives.
Some of the arrested defaulters told Solacebase that they were arrested for conveying more than one passengers in their tricycle which contradicts the new order given by the state governor in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
