Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission has said that henceforth guarantors of pilgrims who violate the guidelines for pilgrimage will be sanctioned and charged to court.
The Executive Secretary of the commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam, said this on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.
He said intelligence agencies will also help to identify and stop intending pilgrims who embark on pilgrimage with intent to abscond.
He stressed that since the inception of pilgrimage, it has been for spiritual purpose, for people to go for spiritual retreat and also pray for the nation.
Guarantors of pilgrims will be held responsible for any irresponsible action of pilgrims and will be charged to court.
