NULGE requests lockdown extension Over COVID-19

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees NULGE has called for further extension of the two-week lockdown, saying that the period will not be enough to trace all cases, especially at the local government level.
NULGE President Ibrahim Khaleel who disclosed this in an interview said people in the rural areas are more vulnerable due to non-availability of healthcare facilities.
Comrade Khaleel advised the federal government to build more Primary Health Care centers in all the local government Area of the country to cater for the health needs of the rural populace.
He said government should make use of the funds donated by individuals and corporate organisations toward the fight against the pandemic to execute the projects.
The NULGE boss further urged government to complete the construction of Primary Health Care centers abandoned in the 774 local government Areas in the country which had reached almost 70 -80 percent completion.
He said such projects will complement the efforts of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC.
