The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has donated relief items to some 254 communities out of 179, 000 households affected by flood across the 12 local government areas in Adamawa State.
Items donated include 10,000 Bags of 25kg rice; 5,000 Blankets; 5,000 Mats; 3,000 Vegetable oil; 5,000 Wrappers; 3,000 Shadda; and 3,000 children’s wear.
The Managing Director of the commission, Mohammed Alkali while presenting the items reiterated that the items should be channeled to the displaced flood victims who have lost their property and wealth.
Alkali expressed delight with the measures taken by the state government to contain the situation.
Receiving the items, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by the State Secretary to the Adamawa Government (SSG), Engr. Bashir Ahmad commended the efforts of both the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and NEDC for the humanitarian gesture to the displaced flood victims.
