NLC Women Committee Celebrates International Women Day

The Nigeria Labour Congress Women Committee held a function on international women day for the year 2021 at the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria Secretariat, Maiduguri on Wednesday 31st of March 2021.

The wife of Borno State governor Prof Falmata Babagana Umara Zulum was represented by the commissioner women affairs and social development in the person of Hajjiya Zuwaira Gambo.

The theme of the function was purposely on Women in leadership towards achieving equal opportunities for all in a Covid-19 world Nigerian situation.

The host Comrade Saratu Bausa gave a welcoming remark, where she stated that the international women day is celebrated on the 8th of March yearly.

She praised women tremendously and stated that women are the strength of the nation and the backbone of every successful society.

She urged the federal government to always honour and consider women and also give them equal rights in leadership and to also allow women to contest freely for a political post.

NLC Chairman was represented by Saleh Abubakar, whom gave a speech on behalf of the chairman where he acknowledged the strength of women and gave kudos to them. He also congratulated the women and also assured them of their total support whenever they are in need.
