NIMASA Donates Food, Other Items To People Living With Disabilities In Gombe

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency has donated food items and economic strengthening equipment to People Living With Disabilities in Gombe.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the food items included assorted bags of grain, rice, palm and groundnut oil as well as tricycles, grinding machines, power generators, matrasses, clippers, dryers among others.

The Director-General of the Agency Dr Bashir Jimoh, handed over the items to the beneficiaries through Senator Danjuma Goje, Jimoh represented by Alhaji Abdullahi Yelwa, Deputy Director, Marine Environment Management, said the gesture was part of the agency’s corporate social responsibility aims at alleviating the sufferings of persons with disabilities.

He said that apart from the food items, the tricycles, clippers, grinding machines, dryers and power generators were empowerment kits for small scale enterprises to provide means of livelihood to the beneficiaries.

Jimoh said that similar donations were also done across the 36 states, adding that the items would alleviate the hardships being experienced by the PLWDs.

He further urged those that were saddled with the responsibility of sharing the items to distribute them equitably.
