The Nigeria Automobile Design Development Council has presented electric vehicles manufactured by the council to the Federal Government.
Mr Jelani Aliyu, the Director-General of the council, presented samples of the vehicles to Chief Sharon Ikeazor, Minister of State, and Environment.
According to him, the council aims to support the manufacture of vehicles locally, discourage importation and create employment opportunities for no fewer than 50,000 youths in the country.
Aliyu explained that investment, production, structural infrastructure development as well as standard skills and market development were five key elements the agency was looking into to revive production in the country.
According to him, the agency tests, evaluates and monitors vehicle parts to reduce the possibility of producing fake parts.
He said the agency had already built three branches in Zaria, Enugu and Lagos States, where the vehicles will be tested properly.
