Nigeria: Vice President Visits Borno State

Nigeria’s vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo, was in Maiduguri, the Borno state Northeastern Nigeria on Tuesday on an official visit to commission projects done by the outgoing administration of Governor Kashim Shettima.

His visit came barely a month after the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari paid an official working visit to the state who had also commissioned many projects of the state government. However, many have wondered the sudden visit by the Vice President in such a short interval.

The vice president is in the state principally to commission projects that were done under the administration of Governor Kashim Shettima. There are so many different projects to be commissioned as a matter of fact, they had to review some of the itineraries to beat time, otherwise they would have been here commissioning projects till May 29, the vice president said.

Professor osinbajo also assured people of the state that the concerns of rebuilding the northeast remain at the front role of the important challenge that we have as a government and we want to assure you that it remains at the front burner of the federal government agenda.
