
Nigerian Army has commenced operation last hold to finally clear northern Borno in the northeast Nigeria and fringes of Lake Chad of the terrorist and conduct this year’s Nigeria Army day celebration on the sixth of next month.
Theatre commander of operation Lafiya Dole Major General Rogers Nicholas who disclosed this in Maiduguri said Operation Last Hold would work together with Operation Lafiyan Dole to achieve peace and stability in the region.
General Nicholas called on non-governmental organization to support the return of IDPs with fertilizer and improved seeds to commence farming activities as the army clears the area.
The commander of Operation Last Hold with headquarters in Monguno Major General Abba Dikko stated that the operation in designed to create enabling environment for people to return to their homes for successful reconstruction to commence under full security.
The Chief of civil Military relation Major General Nuhu Dambazau said these years Nigerian Army day celebration would be staged in northern Borno and will be different from previous ones.
He said during the celebration there would be sanitation, reconstruction, medical outreach, community engagement, town halls and other exercises. Operation Last Hold is incorporated to Operation Lafiyan Dole to bring to an end terrorism in the region.
