Nigerian Army Lunches “Operation Fireball” In Yobe/Borno Axis

In its to effort to end insurgency Nigerian Army launched “Operation Fireball” in Yobe/Borno axis and closed down four roads against Boko Haram terrorists in the Northeast commencing from October 12,2020 between 6am and 3pm till further notice.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Brig.Gen. MLD Saraso and made available to newsmen in Maiduguri.

According to the statement the headquarters of the theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole will conduct an exercise code named FIREBALL which necessitated the closure of all roads surrounding the Timbuktu triangle comprising of 132 km Maiduguri/Ngamdu/Damaturu roads.

Also to be closed are the198km Maiduguri/Bunigari/Biu road as well as 187km Maiduguri/Damboa/Biu and147km Ngamdu /Goniri/ Damboa roads covering eight Local Government of Borno/Yobe states including the Sambisa forest and adjoining hideouts of Mandara mountains and the lake Chad region covering 664km of the triangle.

According to security experts yesterday in Maiduguri the insurgents have about a dozen crossing points along the four closed roads.
