The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Iraboh says the Nigerian Armed Forces is working to achieve the mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the menace of insurgency and other criminal activities in parts of the country.
General Iraboh stated this while addressing troops at the headquarters Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maimalari cantonment, Maiduguri.
The Chief of Defence Staff accompanied by the Service chiefs was initially briefed by the Theater Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Farouq Yahaya.
The Defence Chief commended the troops for the dedication and resilience despite some drawbacks they have encountered in the ongoing military operations.
General Lucky Iraboh assured that Nigerian troops would in no distant future dominate the Lake Chad and other enclaves occupied by the insurgents.
Earlier, the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Farouq Yahaya said the operational visit, which was the second since their appointment demonstrate the resolve of Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs to the counter insurgency operations.
He expressed the resolve of the Theatre to conclude the operation soon.
The Chief of Defence Staff and his entourage later visited wounded troops at the 7 Division Hospital assuring them support.
