Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme UNDP in Nigeria, Mr. Frederick Ampiah, has said the organisation is committed to supporting government in tackling security and development challenges, particularly in the North-east.

Ampiah said UNDP would partner with states to bring development to the citizens through effective, efficient and equitable management of scarce resources and reduction of violence.

He was represented by UNDP’s Head of Governance, Peace and Security, Mr. Matthew Alao, yesterday, at the closing ceremony of the sixth batch of 577 participants in the capacity building programme for civilian JTF/vigilante groups from Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states, held at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), Jos.

The capacity building programme, according to him, was funded by the government of Germany and UNDP, under the integrated Regional Stabilisation for the Lake Chad Project, aimed at supporting the reintegration of former Civilian JTF/ Vigilantes and Boko Haram fighters in crisis-affected communities, using three-pronged approaches.
