The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has committed five billion naira in the establishment of seven Academic Publishing Centres across Nigeria.
Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim Imam, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the fund, who stated this during an assessment session with Heads of Tertiary Institutions in the North East, held at Moddibo Adama University of Technology Yola, explained that the purpose for the centers is to encourage academic and scholarly publications.
He expressed delight over the Academic Publishing Centre for the North East, which is sited at Moddibo Adama University of Technology Yola, and assured that installations of sophisticated machines for publishing will be completed soon for the center to commence operations.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Prof Suleiman Bogoro noted that the establishment of the publishing centers will meet the academic needs of the tertiary institutions and is designed to encourage research, journals, and other academic publications.
In his remark, the Vice-Chancellor, Moddibo Adama University of Technology Yola, Prof Liman Tukur appreciated the siting of the Academic Publishing Centre at the institution, pointing out that the potentials derivable will be used for the benefit of member schools.
Convener of the meeting, Prof Riskuwa Shehu, represented by Prof Aishatu Iya Ahmed from the University of Maiduguri noted that the publishing center in the zone was established in 2015 and charged Heads of Tertiary Institutions in the zone to ensure its sustenance.
