Nigeria: Police Confirms Boko Haram Attack at Jakana Town in Borno

The Police in Maiduguri the Borno state capital , northeast Nigeria have confirmed Boko Haram attack on Jakana town in Konduga Local Government area. A statement by Police Public Relations Officer of Borno State Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police Edet Okon says the insurgents launched the attack in about 30 vehicles just before 6pm on Thursday.

Security forces, including police combat units were deployed for reinforcement, and successfully repelled the insurgents. Dandal Kura Radio International learnt that town, not too far away from Benisheik, on the Maiduguri Kano high way.

The town is about 41 kilometers way from the Borno State capital Maiduguri. Some of the Jakana’s resident whom identity proven anonymous said the attackers came with heavy weapons and more than 60 vehicles.
