Nigeria: Police Arrests 2 CJTF Over Rape In Borno

The Borno State Police Command has paraded two young men suspected of gang-raping a young lady in Maiduguri.

Yusuf Mohammed 22 and Umar Bukar 19 who are members of Civilian Joint Task Force were alleged to have abuducted and raped Habiba Mustapha at Molai village

Briefing journalists at the Command Headquaters in Maiduguri, the state Police Commissioner, Mohammed Aliyu said the suspects were apprehended after Habiba’s father , Mustapha Asibe reported the incident at the police station.

The commissioner revealed that one Dane gun, a sharp knife, two long sticks, one axe and a cutlas were recovered from the suspects and that they will soon be charged to court.

He warned parents whose children are involved in rape cases to desist from writing to withdraw such cases from the police custody.

However, the alleged rape case took a different twist when the suspects denied raping the alleged victim; they claimed that they had their turns on Habiba with her consent.
