Youths in their hundreds in Yola, the Adamawa state capital defied indefinite curfew imposed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Sunday and loot government facilities.
Offices looted by the hoodlums include, Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, Ministry of Agriculture Field office, Customs, FRSC, NECAS, AADP, and Skill Acquisition centre.
The hoodlums had earlier looted government warehouses in Yola North, Yola South, Numan, and Demsa local governments.
There are some reports that five people have died as a result of stampede during the looting which started on Sunday Morning up to Monday morning hours.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Adamawa State Police Command DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje while giving an update acknowledged that people have defied the curfew order blamed some parents for abetting the crime.
He assured that police and other security agencies are working hard to bring the madness to an end urged parents to cautioned their children and avoid, assisting or abetting them or instigating them into committing such crime.
So far the command has succeeded in apprehending 108 suspects who are now in the police custody and a lot of looted properties are equally recovered which include tractors, vehicles, tricycles, and farming equipment among others.
