Vice President Yemi Osinbajo implored Nigerians to bear with the federal government over the closure of Nigeria’s borders with neighboring countries.
Osinbajo, who spoke at an ongoing town hall meeting, with the National Festival of Arts and Culture in Edo State, said that the border closure was in the interest of the country and local producers, especially farmers. And they want neighboring countries to take policing of the borders more seriously.
Osinbajo while responding question, by the Vice chairman of Edo market women, Mrs. Christiana Omokaro, who lamented the high cost of rice and other foodstuffs in the market.
The vice president further explained: that the reasons for shutting the border is the smuggling that has been going on. Adding that if they continue to allow the Chinese and others to continue to bring things, farming will completely down and most of people will not be employed.
Osinbajo commended Edo state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for repositioning the state as a foremost destination for investment and tourism.
