Nigeria: Northeast Speakers Seek Support From NEDC For ICT Knowledge

Speakers from the Six North East States have solicited the support of the North East Development Commission in the area of Technology and logistics to enhance legislative activities in the region.

The Chairman, Conference of the Speakers of the State House of Assemblies in the North East, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman made the request when he led his Counterparts on a Courtesy Visit to the NEDC in Abuja.

Alhaji Suleiman who is the Speaker, Bauchi State house of Assembly stressed the need to equip members State House of Assemblies in North Northeast with ICT knowledge to transform Legislature from the Analogy to Digital.

The Chairman of the Conference of Speakers on the Northeast appreciated Education intervention fund initiated by the Commission for the development of the region.

The Managing Director, North East Development Commission, Mr Alhaji Alkali who said efforts were on for implementation of ICT skills acquisition in Six pilot Local government areas in the zone, promised the delegation the Commissions determination to ensure socio-economic development of the Six States in the North East.

Mr Alkali advised the State Speakers to implement policies that would enhance speedy recovery of the Education, Economic and Social activities damaged by the effect of insurgency in the North-East.

The six northeast states affected by Boko Haram Insurgency are; Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe.
