Nigeria: NLC Rejects Increase In Fuel Price

The Nigeria Labour Congress has rejected the increase in Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol from N148. 50 per liter to N151.56 per litre.

The President of the congress Mr Ayuba Wabba told News Men while reacting to the increase in the price of petrol on Wednesday.

Dandal Kura Radio International reports that the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company , a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, in a statement had announced that the new product price adjustment which takes effect from second September.

It could be recalled that on August 5, 2020 the price of petrol was increased from N143.50 to N148.50 per liter.

According to Wabba, Nigerians and the Nigeria Labour Congress are shocked over the increase, as it is coming at a time when Nigerians are passing through very difficulty.

The NLC president said that to compound the issue, the CBN has reduced the interest rate of savings which mostly affects the poor.

Therefore the organized labour rejects the increase in price of the product in the strongest terms.
