National Emergency Management Agency NEMA has commenced monthly distribution of food items to over four hundred and fifty internally displaced persons in camps and liberated areas in Borno state.
While flagging off the distribution at Teachers Village camp in Maiduguri, NEMA Team Leader distributor in Northeast, Flight Lieutenant Umar Sani said the items were part of federal government intervention to ease the hardship of IDPs displaced due to insurgency.
Flight Lieutenant Sani noted that the Agency has so far covered over seven thousand four hundred households in Bakasi camp while four thousand one hundred households will be provided with foods items at Teachers Village camp.
According to him, each household will get 25kg of beans, 12.5kg of rice, 12.5kg of maize maggi , salt and cooking oil monthly.
Lieutenant Sani stated that every thirty days, NEMA provides food items to displaced persons and every household gets a total of 54.6kg of the items.
He then used the medium to appeal the IDPs not to sell the items but make use of it. One of the beneficiaries, Jummai Muhammed thanked NEMA for the Food items and prayed to Allah to end insurgency in the country.
