Nigeria: Maiduguri High Court Fixes 30th of May to Commence Trial of EFCC and 3 Retired Public Servants

A Maiduguri High Court in Borno state northeast Nigeria has fixed the 30th of May this year for commencement of trial in the case between federal republic of Nigeria and Jummai Lawan, Kabiru Bako and Musa Buba Amshi.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is prosecuting the three retired public servants and staff of Independent National Electoral Commission for receiving the sum two hundred and forty three million, sixty seven thousand naira from former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison Madueke.

The said amount was received through the Fidelity Bank sometimes in March 2015 to be shared among them and other electoral staff to influence the conduct of general elections in Borno state.

The three are standing trial before Justice Fadawu of the Borno state judiciary for committing offence contrary and punishable under section 26 of the EFCC and other related offences Act of 2000.
