Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has fully accredited the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Maiduguri to commence higher national diploma HND Programmes.
The accreditation was secured 40 years after the Colleges establishment, after World Health Organisation with support from EU funded the installation of modern equipment, facilities and other tools for the accreditation.
While announcing the accreditation at World Health Organisation snapshot in Maiduguri, the Provost of College of Nursing and Midwifery, Hajiya Rukaiya Shettima disclosed that the items and facilities donated for the accreditation, include laboratory equipment, classroom furniture, library books, practical teaching tools, hospital beds and computers.
According to students and staff of the College, WHO supported equipment and facilities that make teaching and learning much easier and friendly among them.
Rukaiya said the School was established in 1971 by the defunct government of northern Nigeria.
While lamenting, she said the quality of training and learning started declining over the years due to the Colleges obsolete equipment.
