The Yobe state Independent Electoral Commission has postponed the earlier announced local government Election to February twenty seventh next year.
The Executive chairman of the commission Dr Mamman Muhammed announced this while addressing stakeholders on the new development.
Dr Muhammed said the rescheduling of the election was the discovery of two new COVID-19 cases in the Yobe state recently to enable health officials take appropriate measures to prevent escalation due to expected political activities during the election.
He explained that the commission has received assurances from Yobe state ministry of health of doing everything possible to prevent any escalation.
It could be recalled that the Yobe state Independent Electoral Commission had earlier slated December fifth of this year for the conduct of election in the seventeen local government areas of the state.
