There was a jailbreak at the Correctional Centre in Benin, Edo State, on Monday, with a number of prisoners escaping from the facility.
The EndSARS protests in the state have become violent lately. On monday morning, scores of hoodlums were said to have broken down the walls of Oko prison located on Benin-Sapele road, setting inmates free.
Witnesses said the hoodlums, who were in large numbers, gained access into the prison scaling its perimeter fence.
Number of inmates freed by the hoodlums could not be ascertained as of press time.
Prison authorities have yet to make any statement on the jailbreak.
