The Military has on Thursday said that only the Federal Government will decide whether or not mercenaries will be engaged in the ongoing battle to end insurgency in the country.
The Defence Headquarters said such decision is a high-level one that only the government will take.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche however said the military and other security agencies cannot stand against the initiative.
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State had demanded the engagement of foreign mercenaries to tackle the rampaging Boko Haram following the killing of over 43 rice farmers in Zabarmari, by Boko Haram insurgents last Saturday,
Major General Enenche said the military had no business debating the proposal, adding that it is diligently prosecuting the war, and focused on victory.
