
Nigeria army has on Tuesday flagged off the return of IDPs to their communities with 2043 IDPs going back to their home town Guzamala Local Government area in northern Borno due to the improved security situation in the area.
IDPs from Guzamala spent four years taking refuge in Bakasi camp along Damboa road Maiduguri.
The retunes comprised of men, women, children who were jubilating singing and expressing happiness and pleasantries with their huge properties in ordinary sacks, as well furniture belonging to some newly married IDPs.
Speaking to the Dandal Kura international the speaker Borno State house of assembly Abdul Kareem Lawan expressed satisfaction and thanks president Muhammadu Buhari Borno State Governor service Chief and Theatre commander Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Roger Nicolas for improving the security situation.
He said that retunes would be given a sufficient food items that can be managed for at least next three months, which will enable them, commence farming.
The commissioner of re-construction and re-habitation Professor Babagana Umara Zulum said the IDPs are returning voluntarily while the theatre commander of Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Rogers Nicholas said security personnel are escorting the returnees.
