The Governor of Borno State professor Babagana Zulum will engage 2,000 automobile mechanics by empowering them to set up their workshops.
The workshops are to be sited in six villages of Maiduguri.
According to him, auto mechanics for the empowerment programme are drawn from the state branch of the Nigeria Automobile Technical Association.
While meeting with members of NATA in Maiduguri recently, he said that this administration will also establish a mechanic village and training centre for all its members, adding that they could facilitate them acquire more skills in modern automobile repairs and maintenance.
He said the establishment of six auto-repair workshops; and training centre, is to enable mechanics to cope with emerging technological demands in auto repairs and maintenance.
