An ex-member of the Boko Haram sect. Bappah Mura, who used to be a farmer, has promised to expose the “lies” of the insurgent group.
Mura made the vow during a de-radicalisation exercise and graduation ceremony from a vocational training organised by the federal government for repentant insurgents in Gombe.
Abana Ali, another ex-member, says he was sorry for everything, stating that he was forced to join the group. He thanked the government for the vocational training because it has been helpful in their de-radicalization. He warned young people that there is nothing to gain in joining the sect.
Mohammed Modu, another former member, says he is going back to the society to tell the people how good the government has been towards them.
In March 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari offered amnesty to members of the Boko Haram sect who were ready to drop their arms and embrace peace.
