Nigeria: COVID-19 Pandemic Affects Transportation Sector In Adamawa

COVID-19 pandemic has affected the transportation sector seriously in Adamawa state Northeast Nigeria particularly during the period of lockdown and ban on interstate movements.

Comrade Muhammad Tukur Abbo, General Manager Adamawa Transport Board operators of Sunshine Express stated this recently in an interview.
He said things are gradually picking up with the lifting of ban on interstate movements.
He explained that Air, Road, Sea, and Rail transportation contributes immensely to the economic development of any nation.

He also said eighty percent of transactions in Adamawa are done through road transportation either by passengers or cargo vehicles.

Comrade Abbo added that Adamawa state has few companies but is blessed with arable land, animals and entrepreneurs maintained that if transportation sector get the desired attention, it will improve the revenue base of the state and enhance social cohesion among the people.

The General Manager pledged to work in harmony with the newly constituted board of the company for better results and call on the state government to purchase more vehicles for the company.
