Nigeria: BOSPHCDA And NSHIP To Commence Medical Outreach in Borno IDP Camps

Borno State Primary Health Care Development Agency and Nigeria State Health Investment Project are to commence medical outreach at Internally Displaced Persons camps and host communities in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria.

The outreach, which is a World Bank assisted projects, are to be implemented by contracted primary health care centers and general hospitals in two councils, Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Kaga town respectively.

The Executive Director of BOSPHCDA, Dr. Sule Meleh disclosed this in Maiduguri, while addressing facility managers and health workers during refresher training on development of Business Plan for second quarter.

He said the IDPs are in dire need of improved healthcare quality of the service, which include antenatal care, delivery, HIV test and treatment, growth monitoring, child spacing planning, nutrition, maternal and child health interventions to improve quality of care and community ownership.

The Project Coordinator, Saidu told participants that the training is timely, because National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) is much concern on accountability and sustainability of project that will have direct impact on people’s lives.
