Borno State Government has entered into partnership with World Health Organisation in biulding additional Isolation Centres in Biu town and Maiduguri city in order to meet up with the increasing number of patients from contacts.
The Chairman of the High Powered Response Committee on Covid-19 who is also the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Usman Umar Kadafur disclosed this Saturday evening during the daily media update briefing on COVID-19.
He also expressed concern and worry over the increasing cases of the the diseae which was being administered at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and Brigedier General Abba Kyari Memorial Hospital Isolation Centres , noting that, there was need for additional medical facilities to separate the categories of the patients with mild symptoms and those with the severe symptoms.
Kadafur however reiterated the commitment of the committee and assured that the committee will not hesitate to continue to discharge its responsibilities accordingly while cautioning the general public against obeying the rules of wearing face masks, hand washing and maintaining social distancing.
On his part, the Borno State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aliyu Salihu Kwaya Bura said the COVID-19 patients, were actually receiving proper attention and treatment against the rumour of negligence over their treatments.
The commissioner explained that all the sixty nine patients from the index case except one patient were in stable condition at the two Isolation Centres of the Nigerian Army, 7 Division Hospital in Pulka town.
He further said that sixteen health workers have so far been recorded to have been infected with COVID-19 disease but the committee has already taken drastic measures to minimize the risk faced by the health workers in trying to control coronavirus disease
