Nigeria: Borno State House of Assembly Declares Support for Governor Shettima as Senator

As Borno state Governor Kashim Shettima announced his intention to vie for the senate, his aspiration has received a boost as all the 28 members of the Borno state house of assembly unanimously declared their solidarity and support to the governor.

At a political meeting held in Maiduguri northeast Nigeria, all the 28 members of the Borno state house of assembly asked Governor Kashim Shettima to vie for the senate next year at the end of his 2nd term in office.

The law makers who were elected under the platform of the all progressive congress encouraged governor Kashim Shettima to contest for the senate, pointing out that the people of Borno central senatorial district will require his wealth of knowledge and experience at the upper chamber of the national assembly.

The speaker of the house, Alhaji Abdulkareem Lawan disclosed this in the presence of some members of the Borno state house of assembly when a political coalition, Kashim Shettima youth mobilisation led by an APC chieftain, Al-amin Mustapha alkali hosted the speaker and members at a political forum in Maiduguri.
