The Borno state government, pointed out that, henceforth, the State will lead the process and monitor, manage and conduct all the activities of the non- governmental organizations in the state in their quest to assist in addressing the security challenges in the state.
The governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum said this while receiving the Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator of UN Mr Yassine Gaba, Heads of UN Agencies, and the INGO forum at the council Chambers.
Prof Babagana Umara Zulum said, government plans to take in close consultation with the UN and other stakeholders in establishing a one stop unit to deal with the challenges faced by the international agencies and to equally address the nature of collaboration by our partners to deliver the required result.
The governor thanks and appreciation to the UN and her Agencies for their commitment and show of solidarity and unflinching support to bring back peace and stability in the region adding that, the litmus test if a leader is in time of problems while true test of friendship is in the moment of challenges.
He also thanked them for their support which comes in various forms like grants, technical skills, advice and expertise that has brought temporary succor to the state adding that the gaps filled through their support, has strengthen governments capacity.
