Nigeria: Borno State Govt in Collaboration With WHO Lunches Campaign Against Malaria in Borno

Borno state government in northeast Nigeria has launched campaign against malaria at the farm centre IDP camp Maiduguri. The campaign which is in collaboration with the World Health Organisation was launched by Governor Kashim Shettima who was represented by his deputy Usman Mamman Durkwa.

The Emir of Bama Alhajji Kyari Ibn Umar Ibrahim Elkanemi who is Chairman traditional rulers of Nigeria in the war against malaria appealed to the IDPS and others to keep their surroundings clean and regularly visit health centres to know their status as malaria is now the number one killer in the sub-Saharan Africa.

Representative of the world health organisation Dr Audu Musa assured that the world body will continue to collaborate until malaria is completely eradicated.

Governor Kashim Shettima who spoke through his deputy reiterated his administration’s commitment to the wellbeing of the citizenry and commended the WHO for its support.
