Nigeria: Borno State Governor Outlined 10-Point Agenda To The Next Level

Distribution of dividends of democracy and socio-economic development of Borno state being the text of speech by the governor of Borno state, Northeast Nigeria Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.

The Governor Zulum has expressed appreciation on the informed decision of the Federal government to have designated June 12th as the Democracy Day.

Babagana began the celebration, holding at the Ramat Squre, Maiduguri with the inspection of Guards on Parade.

He said June 12th epitomizes a historic turning point in the political development of our great Country. Stressing that germane political struggle that was triggered by the unpopular ‘Election Annulment’ saw to the return of democratic governance on May 29, 1999.

We witnessed a massive displacement of communities and a record high number of internally displaced persons in the country. He Added.

Borno governor express concern on hundreds of dropouts and out-of-school children, high proportion of our able bodied youths became unemployed, we had great loses in livestock, destruction of irrigation and farming facilities and collapse of market and trade facilities and high levels of food insecurity.

Borno Governor outlined 10-point agenda articulates the development framework to launch Borno to the Next Level.

I have planned to take a visit to Niger and Cameroun within the next two weeks to confer with our compatriots in the IDPs and work out modalities for their return and resettlement.

The fomer governors of Borno Al-shek Zarma, Maina Maji Lawan, and traditional rulers led by the hignes Shehu of Borno Dr.Abubakr Ibn Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi are some dignitaries attending the inaugural ceremony of the Democracy
