Nigeria: Borno State Governor Distributes Food Items To Over 650 Refugees From Niger

Borno state Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has distributed food items and 6.74 million Naira to over 670 returning household refugees from Diffa province of Niger Republic.

The refugees fled their communities in Mobbar council, during over decade long Boko Haram terrorism that claimed many lives and property.

While supervising the distribution and disbursement at Damasak Zulum disclosed that distributed food items, comprising tons of grains and cooking oil to meet their immediate basic needs of life.

Each of the returning refugee households to Damasak, are provided with a stipend support of N10, 000.

He said the disbursed cash support; was an immediate urgent social protection for the returning households from Niger Republic.

While inspecting ongoing 1,000 housing project for returning refugees, he directed the Military to dig and expand the trench to protect Damasak project site and returning displaced persons.

He also ordered the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (MRRR) to reactivate the abandoned irrigation facilities along the Kumadugu-Yobe River Basin in Damasak, border community.
