Nigeria: Borno State Government Distributes Fertilizers To Farmers

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has flagged off distribution of 300 tons of fertilizers to farmers to commence their agricultural activities across the state.

The early distribution of fertilizers was to coincide with farmers planting period in month of July.

While flagging off distribution at weekend in Kwaya Kusar in Borno state the Deputy Governor Umar Kadafur who represented Governor Zulum disclosed that to ensure a hitch free distribution exercise a monitoring distribution panel has been set up to prevent the diversion of fertilizers to targeted farmers in 27 Local Government Areas.

The Commissioner of Agriculture Alhaji Bukar Talba disclosed that 180 trucks of fertilizers are to be distributed to nine councils in south senatorial district of Borno.

He explained that each council area is to be distributed with10 trucks of fertilizers to farmers. He also said that While the central and north senatorial districts are each being allocated 40 and 50 trucks of fertilizers for distribution in eight and 10 respective councils.

According to him Zulum’s administration is determined not only to raise farmers productivity but in line with10-point development agenda. And the distribution of fertilizers will also enhance living conditions of rural farmers that constitute the teeming population.

Kadafur also pledged for the adequate procurement and distribution of other agricultural inputs, including tractors, water pumps and pesticides to prevent pre and post-harvest losses
