Borno State Geographic Information Service also known as BOGI ,has generated about N200m as ground rents since itss inception from March to September 2020 just as its optimistic of achieving the N1Billion target before the end of the year.

This was disclosed by the executive secretary of BOGIS Engr. Adam Bababe while briefing the newsmen on the activities of the organization in Maiduguri.

He said BOGIS was able to achieve the feat of saving about N200m through blocking of leakages inherent in the ministry of lands and survey in which alleged staff collaborated with outsiders to defraud the ministry prior to the inauguration of the agency.

While attributing the success story to the digitalisation of land records and electronic payment of ground rents thereby curtailing the activities of land racketeers and corruption on land matters in the state.

According to him, since the commencement of rainy season in June this year life threatening dangers have presented itself in some parts of the metropolis following the submergence of waterways and river banks by flood.
