
About 27 people are reportedly killed when suspected Boko Haram terrorists ambushed a convoy of vehicles escorted by security personnel on Wednesday along Ngala Maiduguri road in northeast Nigeria.
The terrorists attacked the lengthy convoy of more than sixty long and small vehicles transporting goods and passengers from Maiduguri to Chad, Cameroon and Central African Republic burning about 10 of the vehicles.
Sources said the number of killed and injured may be more than twenty seven while several vehicles are completely burnt down but a senior member of national union of road transport workers confirmed the incident.
Another victim who escaped the scene of the attack in Gajibo village twelve kilometers from Dikwa narrated his ordeal saying the dead and burnt vehicles are yet to be evacuated.
Meanwhile sources said there was another attack in the same road on Thursday during which about three vehicles were burnt even as security agencies are aware that terrorist periodically strike on the road killing people while in search of food.
