Nigeria: Adamawa Police Command Arrests 16 Over Communal Clash

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 16 people including Alhaji Halilu Lafiya in connection with Lunguda/Waja communal clash in Guyuk and Lamurde local government areas of Adamawa state and recovered two guns and some dangerous weapons.

In a Press Release by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa state Police Command DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said those arrested followed communal clash resulted into loss of lives and property in Guyuk and Lafiya.

The statement read in part that the command while enforcing the law has so far apprehended one Alhaji Halilu Lafiya and fifteen others in connection with the case and all are undergoing investigation.

The statement added that the command calls on the general public particularly those in Guyuk and Lafiya communities to remain calm and continue to give useful information to the police.

The command while assuring the public of its commitment of protecting lives and property of citizens, called on the people to stop taking laws into their hands.
